Daisuke Yamada (1972–2003) was the founder of STEREOTYPE and worked as an art director and graphic designer.
Through his distinctive visual language combining typography, collage, and layered imagery, Yamada created work across a wide range of fields, including music, fashion, street culture, anime, and video games, leaving a vivid mark on the design scene from the 1990s through the early 2000s.
This exhibition presents a selection of graphic and moving-image works created by Yamada between 1996 and 2003, shown publicly for the first time in 23 years.
Highlights include the exhibition poster for Takashi Murakami’s 727, a poster for GHOST IN THE SHELL, and T-shirt designs for the graphic wear label “ASYURA FIRST.”
The exhibition also features video works and visual designs created by STEREOTYPE from 1996 to the present, primarily in the fields of anime and video games, including works for BLEACH, Black Clover, and Pokémon.

Through these two bodies of “WORKS,” the exhibition traces a 30-year creative journey.

Born in Niihama, Ehime, Japan, in 1972.
In 1996, he launched the graphic wear label ASYURA FIRST. His distinctive graphic style, characterized by collage and typography, gained recognition within club culture and the street scene.
In 1997, he founded STEREOTYPE PRODUKTS. Guided by a philosophy of creative expression beyond the boundaries of any single medium, he produced a wide range of works across diverse fields.
Selected works include the poster for Takashi Murakami’s 727 exhibition, the poster for GHOST IN THE SHELL, PARCO commercials, art direction for TAKEO KIKUCHI, CD jacket designs for SOUL’d OUT, the commercial for Cowboy Bebop: Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door, the opening sequence for Ace Combat 3, and music videos for B.E.D.
Working across music, film, fashion, and street culture, he developed a distinctive creative vision that transcended genres and media.
Daisuke Yamada passed away in 2003 at the age of 30.
